Preparing for Labor Day Weekend

The first break of the school year is almost here—Labor Day. It’s a day that most of us look forward to because it means an extra long weekend. Labor Day was created to pay tribute to the workers in the United States. It’s a day dedicated to the achievements, both social and economic, of the American workers.

Celebrated on the first Monday in September, this day is all about celebrating the American worker. Check out these ideas on how to spruce up your Monday and celebrate in a fun-for-the-whole-family way!

Water Park

It’s the last chance to take the kids to the water park. Most water parks close their doors after Labor Day weekend. Take advantage of the fun in the sun and spend the day in the water.

BBQ With Family & Friends

If you want something a little more low-key, invite some of your closest friends and family over to grill out and enjoy these dwindling days of summer.

Matinee Movie Date

You’re finally off work on a week day! Use this to your advantage and go to a matinee. Then find your favorite restaurant for happy hour.

Travel

End the summer season with a final summer vacation. There are so many places that have incredible weather in September. From coast to coast, you’ll find that the weather isn’t quite as hot as it is in Texas. Enjoy a relaxing weekend getaway before the hectic schedules of school are in full swing!

Whatever you choose to do, make sure you stay safe. If you’re going to be outdoors, wear bug spray and sunscreen. If you’re going to be drinking, drink responsibly. If you’re going out of town, make sure you have someone to get your mail, feed your pets, and keep an eye out on your home—and, if at all possible, don’t post on social media that you’re out of town.

Labor Day is bittersweet. It’s a day celebrating your contribution to your country. But it’s also the last hooray before the busyness of school and holidays. Enjoy these last moments of summer!
